Blog Lovin'

I finally got a BlogLovin' account and I already freakin love it!! I don't know what I was thinking not using this system before. It's awesome.

If you don't have one, it is a website that makes reading and keeping up with the blogs you follow a lot easier! The reason I really love it is because it doesn't matter what website the blog is hosted on, it works for all of them. So I can keep up with my blogspot, wordpress, typepad and other blogs all on one site. How great. (I know google reader does this, but I much prefer the layout on BlogLovin')

If you have one feel free to follow my blog with Bloglovin :)

Something 25: More Stencil Art

Three weeks ago I posted about a stencil art piece I made. I had so much fun with it that this week I'm posting three more pieces that I've made.

For the first piece I made my own stencil, but for these three I used pre-made stencils that I picked out from a book of 15 that I bought. It is a book of positive message stencil's that I found and absolutely fell in love with!

It's been fun to get to use some of the stencils finally. I'm hoping to use some of the other ones to make some fabric!

Something Sunday 23: New Quilt Top!!

I have FINALLY finished my quilt top for my new bed quilt. I started this quilt more than 6 months ago, and I just didn't feel like working on it for so long. But I am so happy to say that I've finished it and it was a blast to sew.

Here are some of my in process pictures:

After lots of cutting, sewing and ironing, I finished this quilt top! I still have a few adjustments I'm thinking of making, but I should be basting and quilting it very shortly!

I'll definitely be posting about the back, and the final quilt soon!

Something Sunday 22: New Journal

This week I have been sewing a lot more, but what I'm sharing now is a small paper project. I have been searching for my journal since I've been home from my trip. I have no idea where it went.. and I had only written in it like 4 times. This week I finally accepted that its gone, and I bought a new one.

I bought the ugliest possible journal though, so I decided to cover it up. Check out the 'before' picture below.

I decided to just cover the whole thing with a sheet of funky paper, and then add some details on top of that.

Front
Back
I kept it pretty simple, but I think it's a big improvement from the original cover! I used different papers for the front and back cover because I didn't have enough of one, but I kind of like the variety. I used some of my new washi tape on the front cover too which I love!

Nice and simple.

Something Sunday 21: Stencil Art

I saw a quote while on my travels mid May that I absolutely loved. It was very simple "be here now". I really strive to be present in each moment and embrace the fact that life is right now, not just in a week when you get to go on a trip, or see an old friend, it's every single day... I know that seems obvious, but sometimes (okay, often) I get caught up living in the future. So this quote really stuck with me.

After seeing a post on Elise Blaha's blog about text art, I knew what I wanted to do with my new found quote.

I rummaged around my house for something to paint on (as I also wanted to be able to complete this project without buying anything new). I found an old wood back from a broken picture frame and figured it would work out just fine as my canvas.

To make the stencil I just cut out the letters from painters tape and arranged them on the board. Then I used some left over silver and black spray paint to cover the whole board, including the stickers. When I was happy with the colours I let it dry, and then pealed off the tape to revel the words.

I'm quite happy with how it turned out, and hope to do another one on a proper canvas or on a piece of wood without holes in it... but for now this will do!
