Something Sunday 3: Travel Bags

This week I made something that has been on my 'to make' list for a while. I made a set of oil cloth travel bags (oil cloth is water proof fabric). I didn't use water proof zippers, but these will still be able to keep my clothes safe from any minor shampoo leaks.

I really hate the amount of ziplock bags I end up using when I travel, so hopefully having this set on hand will limit that!

Oil cloth is pretty expensive fabric, so instead of getting a variety of different fabrics I just bought the nicest one that was on sale and used different coloured zippers to make each one unique.

Side note: I think these might be some of the best bags I've made. (Normally I really don't like the edges by my zippers, but these bags have some solid corners haha)

Some Painted Clay

Just down the street from my house is an awesome little shop called 'play with clay'. A while ago my roomie and I went there to paint some pre-made clay pieces.

I picked this long shallow bowl because I needed something to put my growing bracelet collection in. (Side note: if you're travelling to India there is a large chance it will end up increasing your jewellery collection a lot!)

I definitely had the urge to cover every inch with a different colour, but I'm glad I kept it simple. I used a stencil for the flower in the middle and just free handed all the polka dots around the edge. I'm actually pretty happy with how it came out considering I don't really paint (okay, I never paint).

Can't wait to make more!

My First Something Sunday

Earlier I talked about my plans to start a re-occurring post on Sunday's about something I have created/made or done. I am excited to start off this series with a re-vamp for my walls.

I bought an Instax Mini 7 (an instant film camera) earlier this year and I am loving it! I wanted to set up a way where I could display my pictures and add more as I take them. I found this idea on Hello Giggles and decided it was the perfect way to show my pictures.

I also took the time to add and re-range the rest of my wall art because I had to make space for this project. At Christmas I got 4 amazing prints from a friend of mine and so I put two of them up together in my room and I love how it looks. I also changed up the location of my Giraffe Embroidery and tidied up my book shelf. Overall it became a very productive photo/wall art re-vamp.
